Family History Training Centers, (the Company), was organized as a non-profit corporation in the State of Utah on May 5, 2022.  On August 10, 2022, the company was accepted by the Internal Revenue Service to be exempt from federal income tax under Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 501(c)(3).

This means that donors can deduct contributions they make to the Company under IRS Section 170. The company is also qualified to receive tax deductible gifts and bequests under Section 2055, 2016, or 2522. The Internal Revenue Service has further stated that the Company is qualified to operate as a public charity under IRS Section 509(a)(2).

It is the intention of the Company, Family History Training Centers, to operate as a public charity.  We do not charge for any of the services we provide to the public. However, we can and will accept tax deductible contributions from donors.

Any service provided to anyone cannot and will not be done in consequence or agreement for the payment of a tax deductible contribution. The receiving of a tax deductible contribution cannot be tied in any way to services or products provided for or in behalf of the donor either directly or indirectly. Every contribution received by the company should come as a voluntary gift to the company with no strings attached.

Donors will receive a statement of the total amount of their gifts each year as required by the Internal Revenue Service. Accordingly, all donors must include their name and address of the donor so that the Company will be able to provide the statements as required.

The Company training facility is located at 471 West 800 South, Bountiful, Utah 84010.  This is just a few blocks away from the 5th South Exit of Interstate 15 in Bountiful. This is conveniently located between Salt Lake City, Utah and Ogden, Utah, including all of Davis County, Utah.

We have recently expanded our parking lot in front of the building. We have upgraded our heating and air conditioning system.  We have a training room with a digitally altered conference room table to handle up to six individuals that can hook up to the internet for hands-on training using their own laptop computer. We have an 86-inch TV monitor at the front of the training room so the trainer can share his computer screen as videos, FamilySearch, and other screens that can be displayed on computers onto the large TV monitor.

Both group and individual training can be handled in our training facility. Anything that is related to Family History for both the living and the dead will be the focus of our efforts. Here are five types of services that we provide:

  1. PERSONAL TRAINING – Learn to use the computer. This may include online sites, such as FamilySearch, as well as word processing, spreadsheets, computer file management, etc.
  2. PEDIGREE ASSISTANCE WITH FAMILY SEARCH – We will teach you how to build a diagram of your family back over time. Most of this will be done using FamilySearch online.
  3. RESEARCH ANCESTORS AND COUSINS – We will help you put yourself and your family into FamilySearch and extend family lines back over time. We will train you how to discover deceased cousins to get them a presence on FamilySearch.
  4. WRITING PERSONAL AND FAMILY HISTORIES – You may want to write your own story about your life and the lives of other ancestors. Histories written and published make family history a rich experience and help keep families together over time.
  5. SETTING GOALS AND TRACKING YOUR PROGRESS – This is vital to a sustained pursuit of building family histories. Learn how to set research goals and how to build a research plan. This is critical for long-term success.

Even though we have a training facility, we will also develop Zoom meetings online.  We will also be available for group training at your church or other large gathering location. We can provide movie screens and equipment to project the computer monitor onto large screens. We do not provide sound systems because most churches and other locations have their own sound projection equipment.

If you have a special need for us to take our presentations off-site, please let us know. Call us at (801) 295-4444.
